Patricia Jean Sweeney, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at her granddaughter, Vicki’s home. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Interment: St. John Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.

Pat is survived by son, Bob (Amy) Sweeney Jr. of Prairie City; grandchildren, Vicki (Jeff) Schwab, Tammi (James) Smith, and Suzanne Sweeney, all of Cedar Rapids; sister Annie Sweeney of Savannah, IL.; and great grandchildren, Morgan, Austin, Bailee, and Collin. She was preceded in death by daughters, Linda and Vicky; and brother, Pete.

Pat was born on August 9, 1934 in Desoto, WI to George and Sadie Massie. She married Robert “Bob” Sweeney on November 17, 1952 in Hanover, IL. He died in July, 2003. She worked as a secretary for many years; most recently at Tim Estlund’s Law Office. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed quiet times at home surrounded by her family.
