Memorial

Arthur R. Horsburgh, 88, formerly of Florissant, Missouri died at his daughters home, 3045 Autumn Dr in Marion on Tuesday June 16, 2009 after a short illness. Services at 3:00 PM Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Burial on Friday at 9:30 AM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday.

Survivors include his wife, Robbie, two daughters, Patricia McInerney of Chatham, Illinois and Suzanne (James) Halley of Marion. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas Fehrenbacher, Major Michael Halley, Michele McGuire and Angela Beaudet; and six great grandchildren, William, Catherine, Nicholas, Halley, Gannon and Paige. He was preceded in death by a brother, James.

Art was born on November 7, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of James and Elsie Burger Horsburgh. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1948. Art married Robbie L. Nesmith on Aug. 26, 1950 in Houston, Texas. He was a chemical engineer for Shell Oil Refinery for 38 years, retiring in 1986. Art was a past member of the Lions Club, a current member of American Legion and proudly served in the Army during WWII. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history. Art and Robbie traveled the world including 14 ocean cruses. Art was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
