Robert A Eckard

When we moved to Cedar Rapids in the summer of 1961 it was such a joy to have a family close by with kids in our own age group. Our parents became close also. Bob was very active in the church and in scouting. The softball team was stronger with Bob's pitching, not so much his base running ability. He was a humble man and always gave credit where it was due. When he takes his place in heaven with Harriet, he leaves an empty place in the hearts of those left behind.

I knew and enjoyed Bob while working on various projects with him at Collins. Also in my memory is a time that we shared while on a Promise Keepers trip to and from Minneapolis a number of years ago. We always hit it off well and enjoyed each others company. Bob will be missed.

Virginia and Steve: The years flow by so quickly... there once was a time when three families joined together for camping and other such follies... I remember a maiden voyage of camping and of watching, not so patiently, for 3 grown men trying to figure out how to set up a tent... one of the men was my father, another RL, and your dad. Holidays be it the fourth of July, Labor Day, or Memorial Day were times our families enjoyed together. It is neat to have those good memories established oh so many years ago of both your Mom and your Dad. Praying that the peace of God be with you at this time and in the years to come.

your father was one of my favorites, he was a man's man.

I appreciated Bob's love for Jesus and his boldness to share about Him with others.

We live in Bob's old neighborhood and got to know him and Harriett when we joined Central Park. I taught Sunday School with Bob and our son Scot played on the church league with him. He was a wonderful person and will be missed. To Mary and all the family - you have our sincere sympathy. Curt & Marcie Snitker

To the family of Bob, I met Bob at Crestview Acres when I visited my Mom. It didnt take very long for me to know that Bob was a special person. He love it when everyone sang songs together. There was several religious ones that really touched his heart. They brought tears to his eyes. He was excited when he found out I worked at Rockwell. He liked to talk about that. He will be missed by all. I am so sorry for everyones loss, but I feel relieved to know that he is at peace now in God's arms. Bob's friend....Elaine Orcutt
