Memorial
Lois E. Noring, 75, of 2428 Southland St. SW, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, May 16, 2009. Services at 1 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Herbert Knudten of Grinnell, Iowa, will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years E. Paul, their son Douglas, and daughter Beth Pleggenkuhle and husband Bruce, of Carrollton, Texas, son Ted and wife Kris of Cedar Rapids, a brother in law Edmund Noring of Plano, Texas, and five grandchildren, Jill and Amy Pleggenkuhle, and Ben, Sam, and Grace Noring. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Lois was born April 2, 1934 in Wheatland, Iowa to Emil and Mabel Freese Endorf. She married E. Paul Noring on February 25, 1956 in Wheatland. She was a Registered Nurse at Mercy Medical Center from 1957 to 1994. She was a Mercy Hospice Patient Volunteer and Mercy Auxiliary Board President. She was diagnosed twice with breast cancer, and was a survivor for 22 years. She was a patient advocate for the National Cancer Institute. She was very active with the American Cancer Society and had received the National St. George Award, the highest award for a volunteer.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Linn County Cancer Society.
