I feel honored to have known Leona and am glad to say that she was a very close personal friend. Our friendship began when she volunteered to become involved with a newly developed drama group at St. Paul's First United Methodist church. Being the director of the group, The St. Paul's Players, I assigned the narrator part of the Easter play, "The Other Wiseman", to Leona. After that Easter drama production, I was blessed to have the privilage to direct Leona in two dinner-theater productions. I had the good fortune to be on stage with her for one of these dramas, The Carpenter". Leona loved playing a little ol' lady in the comedy, "It Was A Dark And Stormy Night". It never occured to Leona that she WAS a little ol' lady!! young at heart at the age of 80! Those were magical times looking back. Leona is a special lady who will be dearly missed by ALL those lives she has touched with her presence. I know that I am a better person for having known Leona. You will always have a special place in my heart. Knowing Leona, she is the newly appointed drama diector in heaven.

Mrs Fawley was my speech teacher at Franklin. She was a teacher who taught with our futures in mind. What a high energy individual who always seemed to love whatever she was doing. I know she'll be missed by family & friends.

I am Leona's youngest grandson Rodney...we have had many wonderful times...as a child I loved being at grandma's house...I remember many great summer days...I even enjoyed the yard work, at that time. We went traveling to colorado to stay with her niese Rita...I was very impressed with the land in general there...gourgeous! we also went to D.C. to learn more history in person. My teenage years were filled with tring times for both of us...I was rebelling against every thing I could...she was one person who would not let me get (too far) from what I knew was good for me! Looking back I needed her there even if at the time neither of us knew if we wanted much to do with each other... I have her to thank for much of who I am today...she was vital in my growing up. Look for the good in everybody is one of the countless things she told me...and I pride myself in doing that today... My grandma had a profound effect on everyone she met...and I and they are better for it!
