William E. Hunter, 90, of 4845 Johnson Avenue NW, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Monday, May 4, 2009, due to respiratory complications. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by the Rev. Tom McDermott. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military services. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel where a visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Bill is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Darlene; children, Linda (Dennis) Blaha, and Diane Schulte, all of Cedar Rapids, and Sandra (Gene) Blunn, of Ryan; brother, Fred (Lillian) Hunter of Meskogee, OK; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six sisters.

Bill was born on June 23, 1918 in Lindsay, OK to William and Winnie Huddleston Hunter. He married Darlene Rose Butz on May 1, 1948 in Lisbon. Bill was the manager of Hudson Oil from 1959 to 1982. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
