Memorial

Frank W. James, 88, a resident of West Ridge Care Center, died there Monday, April 27, 2009, following a long illness. Services with military honors will be held at 2 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Dr. Leonard Ranson of Cedar Hills Community Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM Wednesday and at the chapel after 1:30 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Joyce, two daughters Lynda Galiher, and Jill (Jim) Hidinger all of Cedar Rapids, a son Paul of Solon, sister Ruth Weishaar of Wichita, Kansas, two granddaughters Rachel Farrell and Heather Losch, great grand children Ashley Farrell-Vasquez, Nick Parsons, Lexi Melsha, Phoenix Farrell, Noah and Eden Losch, and great great grandchildren, Macey Farrell and Madaxx Vasquez. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dennis James, brother Jesse, and sister Rosemary.

Frank was born February 25, 1921, in Major County Oklahoma, to George and Faye Wright James. He married Joyce Fryrear on December 14, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. After serving in the US Navy during WW II he worked as a mechanic for Allen Motor Company for 36 years. He was a member of Hanford American Legion Post No 5, and enjoyed hunting, fishing in Minnesota, boating, camping, woodworking, bowling, RV travel, his beloved dogs, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
