Leonard J. Fuller, 88, of 400 30th Street NW died Tuesday April 14, 2009, while visiting his daughter in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida after a sudden illness. Services at 10:00 AM on Saturday at the First Christian Church. Rev. Fred Darbonne will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.

Survivors include two sons, Gordon (Barbara) of Cedar Rapids and Fredrick (Alice) of Casa Grande, Arizona; three daughters, Karen Brown of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Sherry (Daniel) Gerrity of Milwaukie, Oregon and Vicki (Donald) Berry of Midland, Michigan; one brother, Rev. Kirby (Dixie) of Olathe, Kansas and two sisters, Pauline Drumm of Muscatine and Rosemary Vaverka of Chula Vista, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, and four brothers, Lyle, Elton, Richard and Robert.

Leonard was born on May 15, 1920 in Newton, Kansas the son of Arthur and Anna Bottger Fuller. He married Gertrude W. Stieger on June 4, 1943 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2000.Leonard was an engineer-estimator for several local plumbing wholesalers for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of VFW Post 788, and Cedar Christian Church where he was an elder, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Leonard was a wonderful person who was devoted to his family and his Church. Memorial donations may be given to Cedar Christian Church. Military rites by VFW Post No. 788.
