Carolyn and Margie - I received an email about your mother's death from the interim minister at the Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids. I don't know if you remember, but I lived behind you on Pleasant Drive and "babysat" for Margie a number of times. I just remember Margie taking my glasses so I couldn't see and she could do anything she wanted! I kept up with your mother at Christmas until last year when I did not hear from her. She was a dear friend of my parents, Dick and Louise Wagner and she and John visited them sometimes in the 80's because I have pictures. Your mom was kind enough to open her house to the men of my wedding party before our wedding in 1964. My thoughts and prayers are with you and trust you have many wonderful memories of a life well-lived. Ellie (Eloise) Wagner Linden

Hello, My Dear Friend! I emailed you from afar about a week ago, and I have been thinking about and praying for you ever since. My whole-hearted hugs envelop you at this sad time. You know I feel your pain. The picture of your mom is so PERFECT! I remember her smile - as reflected in you. My love to you and Margie. With heartfelt. deepest sympathy, Chips

Dear Carloyn and Margie, I go way back to CRCC Girls' Club days! For some reason, your wonderful mother chose me to represent her in several of her real estate dealings and I absolutely grew to love and admire her greatly. The picture you chose for her obituary is a delightful remembrance of her. I'll look forward to seeing you on June 11th. (P.S. I don't look exactly like I did when I was life guarding. . . .) Carolyn and Margie: What wonderful memories I have of our parents enjoying life together...and also with your mom and John. I especially will cherish the fact that I always sat near your mom at church and will remember her love of the music whether it be the organ or the choir. I will see you in May. Gingie

Margie and Carolyn, We are so very sorry Ruth has passed away. She was always such a "classy lady" with a ready smile and a warm embrace. Margie, I remember thinking you had THE coolest mom from our days in Sunday school at First Congregational because she let you wear high heels! (They were red!) I will never forget the beautiful wedding shower she gave for me - it was very special. My mother has lost a dear and cherished friend. Mother kept me up to date on the two of you - your mother was so proud of both of you and shared her pride with mom. Marty and I send our deepest sympathy. We hope your faith, family, friends and good memories will sustain you at this time. Fondly, Juli Smith
