Memorial

Lillian Mae Reynolds Brown, 85, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at Northbrook Care Center, Wednesday, April 8, 2009 after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Sonda Kirsteatter. Burial: Palo Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian was born May 24, 1923 in Palo and graduated from Palo High School. She received a certificate from the University of Iowa College of Engineering for completing a course in math, radio, circuit, and engineering. She worked for Collins Radio/Rockwell Collins for 35 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of IBEW #1362. Lillian was a longtime member of Olivet Presbyterian Church and the M & M Circle.

Surviving her are a daughter, Sandra (Jim) Young of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Gregory (Lynn) Brown of Palo, Douglas (Lynette) Brown and Kenneth (Cherrie) Brown, all of Cedar Rapids, and Ronald (Beth) Brown of Walford; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Brown of Mt. Vernon, WA and Cheryl (Jim) Bonebright of Danville, IL; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Karelvicz of Cedar Rapids, Faye Reynolds of Palo, and Betty (Larry) DeSotel and Pauline Hall, all of Marion; and sister-in-law, Shirley Reynolds of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward in 2007; infant daughter, Linda; two brothers; and two sisters.

Lillian enjoyed doing embroidery work, writing poetry, genealogy, traveling and basketball games. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Memorials may be made to the Olivet Presbyterian Church or to the donor’s choice.
