Bob married Betty Thompson July 18, 1944, in Lake City, Florida. Returning from service, he graduated with a B.A. from Coe College and M.A. from University of Iowa. He coached at Melbourne, State Center and was coach and principal at Wilton Junction. He was also superintendent and coach at Atkins and superintendent of North Linn Schools, retiring in 1984.
Bob was a loyal Hawkeye/Cubs fan attending many games. All sports drew his interest and participation. Many summers and weekends were spent at their cottage at Delhi where they entertained family and friends.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, he always put family first. In later years he cherished time with his grandchildren and was so proud of their success and accomplishments.
Most recently he attended all of the girls softball games at Coe, coached by his son, Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Ruby; five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years Betty; two sons, Bob, Rick (Coleen); and daughter JoAnn Daubenmier (Dick); eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Thank you to Mercy nurses, staff, Dr. Atay and Dr. Cowden for the wonderful care given to Bob in his last days.
