Ali, B.J. and family, my heart goes out to you. I have so many wonderful memories, 1st as neighbors on Stratford Lane and then off O Avenue. You just couldn't get rid of us we followed you to the new neighborhood. I apologize for not coming around more, my mother was terminally ill for several years and just passed last week. I was so focused on her that I kind of had blinders on for the last few years. So many wonderful memories of Mike, B.J., Judy and now Ali. My love and prayers go out to all of you. We have all lost a very good man. Debra Lacock

I spent most of my late teens and early 20s at Mikes, I grew up there.I was one of the girls after Judy and before Ally I loved him, he always made you feel welcome,I remember the first time I went there he told me I will get you the first drink but after that you have to get it yourself and his ham and swiss sandwiches he made in the mico, and him coming to get me a Betsy out of jail in Iowa city at 3 in the morning. His house was a home away from home for a lot of us girls, I had not seen him for sometime, but with out him us girls would have got into a lot a trouble I love ya Mike and heaven is lucky to have ya.I will miss you a lot

I am very proud to be one of Mike's girls. I will miss my visits to catch up on life and all the great letters he wrote me. He was always there to give me advice, helped teach me to drive, took me to Papa Juans and taught me how to shoot rice threw a straw, let all the girls crowd in his bathroom to get ready for school dances, let us jump on the air mattress, let us have the craziest sober parties in the basement, and he helped me walk after taking me on the Drop ride at six flags my knees were shaking so bad. He was going to take me sky diving but do to the weather the opportunity never came. By the time spring came I was pregnant and he understood that I was no longer going to take the chance. He was there for my wedding, to see both my girls after they were born and my graduation from kirkwood. Without Mike taking me in under his wing I probably would not be the person I am now. Mike and Judy always have a special place in my heart.

Ali and BJ, I am so sorry for your loss. I am Mike's cousin. His dad and my father were brothers. The first family vacation I remember was to Cedar Rapids staying with Uncle Del and Aunt Alberta. I was so proud of the fact that I gave Mike a black eye on that trip. (I fell running down a hill and he stumbled over me, but I took the credit.) Mike had such a great sense of humor and the pictures in this memorial show what a wonderful spirit he had. You will have such special memories to help you during your time of sorrow. May God Bless you and your families.

Mike, we miss you so much. Watching you suffer for the last couple months was painful to watch but we were glad to be able to be there, when you passed on. You will always be remembered for your sense of humor and your smile. Everything you have done for me still sits in my heart and it will stay there for ever. Looking through the pictures has brought back a lot of happy memories for BJ and it is nice to see his smile through the tears. We love you and we miss you more than you will ever know. Please watch over Anna, Raider and Pepper from up there. They will need their guardian angel.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Mike was a good man, he opened his heart to alot of people, fortuately I was one of those people in his life. I will miss all of our long talks and all of the rides on his Harley. I will always remember the crazy things we did after Amy and the kids would go to their dances. He will always be remember by all.

It's been about 12 years since I have seen Mike. It was right after Judy passed and Amy was living in Ill. So me Dennia, and Mike drove out there. It was a great road trip. I remember the many nights of playing skipbo and phase ten. And one year for Christmas, I was given a tee shrit with the phrase Beef Cake on it, it was right when South Park was starting to get popular, which i still wear today. Or the green shirt with white pokadots, I used to wear on first dates in college.

Ali, BJ, Denny and all, I am so sorry for the hole that is in your heart right now. I am Mike's cousin originally from Nebraska. Since we were so close in age, I felt we had a special kindred spirit because even though many years would pass between visits, it was as if we had never parted. After reading the other messages, I now know Mike had that affect on everyone he knew! My primary memory of Mike is that he was the quintessential car guy...ALWAYS had a hot rod. I was envious. My family's prayers go out to all of you.

Dear B.J. & Family-I just found out about your father yesterday when my brother told me. I hadn't logged onto the computer until today when I saw your condolences for my Dad. I am so sorry for your loss. You lost your mom at a young age and that was very difficult; I can't imagine not having both of my parents here and my heart goes out to you. My Dad as you know, passed a week after yours. I am here to talk & listen if you need a friend...always have been & always will be. I will keep both of our families in my prayers.

Mike....I miss you so very much. On the first anniversary of you going to heaven, I put a poem in the paper for you. It read: When the spring thunder rolls across the sky It is the Harley revving up getting ready for the ride Now you can breathe easily and your body is strong The ride will be beautiful curvy and long Up hills and down, along fence lined meadows Forever sunshine behind Heavens doors As the Fat Boy rolls smoothly along the streams All here on earth will remember these scenes To many lives you have made a difference And to me you will always be my Prince Love always Ali

Papa Mike...that name is spoken often from the kids when we take a walk in the pasture and look up at the stars. Pepper still talks of the rocket ship she is going to build for you guys to ride and Raider still remembers the games you played. Anna still keeps your pictures on her bulletin board so she sees you everyday. BJ and I miss you dearly especially your sense of humor. Attempts were made to take your memories from us, but unsuccessfully so. We miss you and love you. Your family, BJ, Jen, Anna, Rai and Pepper. 10/10/10.
