Burton Wayne Moen, 79, of Guttenberg, Iowa, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Guttenberg Hospital following a long illness. Services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Friends may call at the chapel after 2 PM on Wednesday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn, a son Gary (Pam) Moen of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren, Lindsey (Ben) Woods of West Des Moines, and Corey Moen of Cedar Rapids, sisters Evalyn Gouge of Ocala, Florida, Eileen (Jim) Irish of Hiawatha, and Sally Gordon of Moline, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil French, Eva and stepfather Emmet Moen, and sister Shirley Donth.

Burton was born November 15, 1929 at Newton, Iowa, to Cecil and Eva Nolin French. He married Carolyn Lindahl August 23, 1952 in Cedar Rapids. He attended the University of Iowa and Coe College and had operated Moen Motors in Traer, Iowa before becoming a New York Life Insurance agent in 1957. He retired in 1988 and moved to Guttenberg. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids, and the Hesperia Masonic Lodge of Traer and the Cedar Rapids Consistory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, or to the First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids.
