William C. Strasburger, 66, of 1944 Surf Drive. NE. in Solon died Sat. March 28, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City from complications of surgery. Services at 11 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, daughter, Ann MacKenzie of Lone Tree, son, Rob (Erin) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughter, Jennifer Arsenault of Swisher and daughter, Christy Glassford of Cedar Rapids and a sister, Nancy (Gerry) Nagamine of Kailua, Hawaii. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Katlynn, Jacob, Nathan, Maya, Lauren, Landon, Eva, Grayson and his cat, Rudy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marty.

Bill was born on Sept. 3, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Herman and Margaret Hallgren Strasburger. He graduated from Shattuck Military School in Faribault, MN. and attended Upper Iowa University and The University of Iowa. He married his best friend, Susan Arsenault on June 23, 1989 in Cedar Rapids. Bill was a loan officer for the Residential Mortgage Network Inc. for 12 years. He had been the President of the Iowa Association Of Realtors in 1985 and in 1979 he was Realtor of the Year with the Cedar Rapids Board of Realtors. He was a graduate of the Realtors Institute, was a certified Residential Specialist and proudly served in the Army as a 1st Lt. during the Vietnam War.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors; boating, camping, bowling, fishing, hunting, coin and stamp collecting, woodworking and was an avid golfer. He was renowned for the French toast he made for his grandchildren. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.

A memorial fund has been established in Bill’s name. Military rites by Marion American Legion Post No. 298.
