Floyd C. “Tony” Veatch, 82, of the Winslow House Care Center, died there on Thursday March 26, 2009 after a short illness. Services at 10:30 AM on Monday at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Rev. Dennis Johnson and Rev. Kevin Jones will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday. The casket will be closed on Monday. Survivors include his wife, Frances, two daughters, Nancy Galbraith of Van Horne, Carol (Tim) Stamp of Marion and a son, Kevin of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Suzanne and Jonathan Galbraith, William and Dalton Veatch, Katie and Trisha Hagensick and Molly and Jack Stamp. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Tony was born on Dec. 14, 1926 in Braymer, Missouri, the son of Frank and Hallie Ewing Veatch. He married Frances M. Kloster on November 27, 1953 in Des Moines. Tony was an electrician for Munson Electric for 30 years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, IBEW No. 405, SAE Fraternity at Kansas University, a life time member of the Masons in Kansas, and was an assistant Scout Master of Troop 89.. He enjoyed fishing, golf and especially time spent with his friends and beloved family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be given to St. Lukes Hospice.
