Charles F. Raines, 83, of Cedar Rapids passed away Thursday March 19, 2009 at St. Lukes Hospital. There will be no service. There will be a visitation celebrating Charlie’s life from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday March 23, 2009 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Raines of Chicago, IL and Linda Raines and her husband Stewart Maida of Cedar Rapids, Connie Turner of San Antonio, TX and Vicky (Leroy) Farmer of San Antonio, TX. Also surviving are six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and his beloved cats, Mancini and Beethoven.
He is preceded in death by his wife June, a sister and his parents.
Charles Fleet Raines was born February 20, 1926 in Rock Camp, WV to Charles F. Sr. and Lockie Raines. He married June Bull on June 20, 1953 in Peters Township, PA. He owned and operated Raines and Associates for many years. He served as a corpsman with the US Navy during WWII. His passions were playing duplicate bridge as he obtained the rank of Life Master and investing in the stock market.
Memorial donations may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice in Charlie’s name.
