Steven Dale Puffer, 23, of Marion, passed from this life on Friday, March 13, 2009, after enduring a silent personal struggle. A rosary service will be held for Steven at 4 p.m. and a vigil at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. The funeral Mass for Steven will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Church in Marion with Reverend John Gossman.

Steven was born August 27, 1985 in Cedar Rapids and attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and graduated with honors from Linn-Mar High School. As a member of the Lions’ football team, Steven won honors as all–metro defensive tackle in 2002. Steven was completing his final semester as a finance major at the University of Iowa. He will always be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help others. Steven chose to help others live through his contributions to the Iowa Donors Network.

Steven is survived by his parents, Jeff and Janice Puffer of Marion; sisters, Laurel (Joshua) Pronk of Des Moines, and Mary and Sara of Marion; and nieces, Johanna Pronk and Chassity Puffer. Steven also leaves behind his most kind and loving fiancé, Lindsay Buenzow of Readlyn. Extended family includes grandparents, Ray and Betty Kennedy of Tuscola, Illinois, and Dale Puffer of Marion; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial fund has been established in Steven’s name.
