Memorial

Mildred A. Lodge, 96, of the Meth-Wick Community since 2001 died peacefully there on Thursday Feb. 26, 2009 after a short illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Dr. Leonard Ranson will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.

Survivors include a son, David (Joanne) of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Edwin; her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Mildred was born on March 29, 1912 in Muscatine, the daughter of William and Mary Canaar Schulpke, moving to Cedar Rapids at the age of 9 months. She graduated from Grant High School. She married Lester C. Lodge in August of 1930 in Cedar Rapids. They were married 60 years; until his passing in 1990. Mildred retired from Perpetual Savings and Loan in 1977 after 30 years of service. She has been a member of Salem United Methodist Church since 1935 belonging to the quilting/sewing circle and the Homebuilder Sunday School class. After retirement, she volunteered at the Red Cross, the Educational Service Center and various Meth-Wick programs. Mildred enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren and liked to crochet, needlepoint and do ceramics.

Contributions may be given to Salem United Methodist Flood Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
