Matthew Donald Hanson 29, of 2746 Meadowbrook Dr. SE, died Sunday February 15, 2009. Services will be held at 3 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the chapel from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and on Friday after 2 PM.

Survivors include his fiancé Jennifer Matzen, daughter Emily Matzen, his father Donald (Dana) Hanson all of Cedar Rapids, his mother Cynthia Hanson of Kalona, a brother Jason and sister Molly both of Cedar Rapids, a half brother Aijay Hanson of Cedar Rapids, a step sister Ashley (Art) Wing of Maquoketa, Iowa, two step brothers Alex and Avery Davis of Cedar Rapids, and his grandparents William and Mary Gustin. He was preceded in death by a sister Kyley Marie Hanson, and grandparents Ervin and Lorraine Hanson.

Matt was born September 23, 1979 in Merrill, Wisconsin . He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1994 with his family. He attended Jefferson High School and lettered in wrestling. He was employed by M & W Manufacturing for the past four years.

Matt was very passionate about music, playing the drums, lifting weights, fishing, and collecting old Lincoln cars. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and prided himself in being the “Best Father” that he could be. We are all so blessed to have Matt in our lives, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
