Memorial

Jean E. Andersen, 78, a resident of the Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died there Sunday, February 15, 2009, following a long illness. Services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Langley of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from noon to 1 PM on Tuesday.

Survivors include five daughters Judy Cain of Tamms, Illinois, Mary Hargrafen of Fairfax, Maggie Nordland of Clarinda, Iowa, Barbara Randles of Richmond, Texas, and Kathy Emmert of Cedar Rapids, three sisters Janet Nix of Olive Branch, Illinois, Jo Sue of Columbus, Ohio, and Ellen O’Neil of Naperville, Illinois, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Bill and David Everett, and a sister Mary Friedman.

Jean was born May 29, 1930 in Drostat, Missouri to Dave and Gertrude McClure Everett. She married John W. (Jack) Andersen on January 25, 1969 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2004. Jean was employed by the Cedar Rapids Community Schools in food services, she had also been employed at Turner Microphone and Russell Guides. She was one of the original female members of the Cedar Rapids Police Department in the 1950’s. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Medical Center Building Fund.
