Ken, You have my sincere sympathy for your loss. I don't ever remember talking to your dad where he wasn't smiling and nothing less than friendly and gracious. He opened his home up to your friends as if it was their own. My fond memories are too many to count. David

My prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Mike, Al, Jim and I played a lot of golf together the past two summers. We had a lot of laughs with our dumb lucky shots. It was always a contest as to whether Mike or Jim would get the last quip in when it came time to putt. I will miss him.

To the Meisinger family, I am truely sorry for the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I have such great memories growing up just behind the Meisinger's. We would always "cut" through the back yard to each others homes, we had a well worn pathway that we used. I loved the little play house in your backyard, the trampoline, your pool table in the basement and of course trick-or-treating at the Meisingers was the best of all. Mrs. Meisinger dressed like a witch and Mr. Meisinger hiding in the closet to scare us all. Your home has always been such a great memory of mine especially at Halloween. Just a few years ago on Halloween night I rang the Meisingers doorbell just for old times sake. Of course Rosemary and Mike invited me in and welcomed me as if I was the little girl coming to visit like I used to. The Meisingers home was always a second home to me growing up. When Ken would have Mike over I would beg to go too and I was always welcome. I will cherish those memories forever! During the past few years I had the privilage to take care of Mike the times he was at St. Lukes. Even though he was there for his illness he would always smile, give me a hug and joke around with me. Even if he was just waking up from surgery, he always had a warm smile for me. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was blessed to have known him. Love to you all!

Dear Sue, Rose, and all -We are sending our condolences from San Antonio Texas. Mike Meisinger loved life. It was evident that he loved his family even more. My fondest recollections of him include his magnificent sense of humor in the middle of the night at a hotel in Cedar Rapids when John and Sue were married. John's family may have been a tad too rambunctious. Mike was there smoothing things over with the hotel management and encouraging the celebration to continue, albeit at a "lower roar!" I also remember a visit to San Antonio with a small side trip to Enchanted Rock. After a long drive, we found the park to be closed. We had our picnic on the side of a road and Mike's good humor and positive attitude saved what could have been a disappointing afternoon. Mike seemed like the kind of guy who would frequently "save the day." We wish you much peace in the coming days. In addition, we hope that memories of wonderful days spent together with Mike will warm your hearts when your sadness at his loss is greatest. with love and affection for the Meisinger family--- from John, Jeanette, Deb, Katie and Dennis

Over the years our families would come and go but I always knew if Uncle Vernon was coming I would get a great big old bear hug. Oh how I am going to miss those hugs!!!! What a truly fun loving man! I feel so blessed to have had him in my life. I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been to have him as a husband, father and grandpa. He will be missed!

Mrs. Meisinger, Michael, Rob, Susan and Ken, There are so many wonderful memories I have throughout the years that include time spent with your family. When we all moved to Woodstock, and we had nowhere to go for Thanksgiving,(American and Canadian) your house was one of my favorite places to spend these holidays, along with the Daly's and the Bees family. And your Dad was always the one smiling and telling all the jokes to keep us kids wondering, and the adults forever laughing. I even had my first glass of diluted wine at your house! The bonds that were formed during those early years only grew stronger as all the kids grew, moved out and had our own families. The adults remained forever true to each other. Your parents never lost touch with mine and were there for my Dad as we celebrated his 70th birthday, your Dad helping us "roast" him, with his funny stories. And of course in the midst of tragedy, there he was again to offer sympathy and support to my parents when we lost our dear Nancy! I will never forget him and the smiles he brought to just our small knit group let alone the smiles he must have brought to so many! Now that your dear husband, dad and grandfather has been called to accept his eternal reward, I pray that all of you find the may you as a family find comfort and peace in knowing that he is making all the angels and saints smile and laugh in heaven! Mrs. Meisinger, Mike, Sue, Rob, Ken and Extended Family: My heart goes out to you today as I have learned of the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. Having known Sue, his only daughter, since 1st grade, I have wonderful memories of time spent at their loving home. I know how proud he was of his children and how much he loved his grandchildren. Like Rosemary, Mike has made such a difference in the lives of others, always with warmth, a smile and an encouraging word. He will be missed by many. With deepest sympathy,

As sad and heart broken as this time may find you- Rosemary, Rob and family I want you to know I cant stop thinking of some great memories of your husband and dad. To this day I have never tasted a better barbeque hamburger than on his round charcoal grill. I remember breaking out the garage window and thinking as I was walking home through the backyard crying-will I ever get one of those late Saturday afternoon barbeque burgers again. Of course I did and I think the next night he made Rob and I play basketball in the basement on our knees against my brother and Ken as that was what he thought was fair. Although I still think it was my sentence for the busted window. He also had the best hot lather shaving creme of any dad in town. He loved his wife and kids and although I never knew it he was teaching us all a lesson in life. Thanks for the memories and even more the lessons that will last a lifetime. We will miss you but never forget you.

My prayers are with all of you as you say goodbye to a truly wonderful father, husband, grandfather, and man that Ken and I so fondly referred to as V-9! I was always inspired by his constant smile, sharp sense of humor, and deeply evident commitment to a truly wonderful family! May you find comfort in the memory that a man's legacy is truly evident by what he has left behind, and that there could be no finer legacy than the wonderful example of a kind, loving, and infinitely generous family as the Meisinger's. I am truly a better person for knowing all of the Meisinger's, especially Big Mike!

To the entire Meisinger family, we send our love. I'm sad my children and husband never got to know your dad/husband the way I did. You were like a second family to me during college, and Rosemary & Mike joked that they were my "other parents." How lucky I was! Mike's sense of humor and nurturing nature were unbeatable. And the way he and Rosemary treated each other and their children was inspiring to me. I'm sorry such a wonderful person is no longer here with us, but he definitely remains in many hearts -- I know he very much will be forever in mine!

Meisinger family, please accept my condolences. I hung out with Ken a lot in high school and the generosity of the Meisingers during those years was unparalleled. It didn't seem to matter if visits to the their household were impromptu or planned events, they almost always resulted in a grilled ribeye and a choice of at least 3 sides. I'm glad I, along with my dad, were able to get a few rounds of golf in with Mr Meisinger over the the last 2 summers. He had a great sense of humor and was as much fun to golf with as anyone I've ever played with. He was also tough, not letting chemo treatments get in the way of his tee times. He will be missed.
