Doreen V. Schmoldt, 85, of 2905 24th Ave. in Marion died Sunday Feb. 8, 2009 at her home after a sudden illness. Services at 11 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday.

Survivors include a son, David and a daughter, Barbara (Robert) Hasley all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Amy (Chad) Fisher, Daniel and Sherri Hasley; and one great grandchild, Cole Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Lou Whitmer.

Doreen was born on Nov. 17, 1923 in Marion, the daughter of Charles and Wilma Dvorak Moorman. She married John W. Schmoldt in June of 1951 in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced. Doreen worked in the packaging dept. for the Cedar Rapids Gazette for 10 years and was also a homemaker. Doreen enjoyed going to garage sales, yard work, reading, word puzzles and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous in Doreen’s name.
