Antonio Eric Hicks, 16, of 1430 A Ave NE, departed from this life on Sunday January 25, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where friends may call on Friday from 1-5 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Damian Miguel Epps will officiate.

Survivors include his father, Esaw Owens, his mother, Lashawn Hicks Sr., his siblings, Lashawn Jr., Xavier Owens, Damien Owens, Eleshia Owens, Sabien Owens, all of Cedar Rapids and Brittany Owens of Chicago, Illinois, his grandparents, Melvin and Clara Applewhite, and William and Lucinda Kemp all of Chicago, a niece, Leslie S. Hicks of Cedar Rapids and special friend, Mi Asia Richardson of Cedar Rapids.

His great grandmothers, Mary Hicks and Geneva Owens, great uncle, Larry Hicks and uncle, Kevis Kemp preceded him in death.

Antonio was born February 5, 1992 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Esaw Owens and Lashawn Hicks. He attended McKinley and Kennedy High School. He was employed with Ross Marketing and very active in youth leadership programs. He was an avid sports fan, football and basketball being his favorite. Antonio enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
