Edward Joseph Duda, 89, of 2520 27th Avenue, Marion, died January 26, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Edward is survived in memory by the children of his 1st wife Betty, who died in 1983; Edward of Las Vegas, NV and his wife and children, Nancy of Cedar Rapids her husband and children; and by his second wife Mary of Marion and her children, Morris of Jacksonville, FL, his wife and children, Sheryl of Green Bay, WI, and many other step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sisters Fannie Hutchinson of Boone, and Alice Duda of Belle Plaine; brother in law Clarence Dvorak of Mt. Vernon and numerous other relatives and friends.

Edward Joseph Duda was born on July 27, 1919 in New Hampton, Iowa to Joseph and Frantiska (Janosik) Duda and later moved to Elberon and Chelsea, Iowa where he was educated in local, country schools. Edward was a decorated serviceman in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Idaho and enjoyed a successful career with Wilson Meat Packing in Cedar Rapids until his retirement.
