Letter to my Daddy: We didn't always stay in touch like we should have, but you were always in my heart, and I know I was always in yours. That won't ever change even though you are not here physically. You gave me my big blue eyes, so I will see you every time I look in the mirror. I will miss you so much. I love you! I will probably tear up every time I hear the song "Wake Up Little Susie". I remember you used to play that record all the time, and even sang it to me several times! I will always be, Your Little Susie

Dear Husmann family, John will be missed by myself. I remember the times he came to our ranch to visit my Dad and family. he was always interested in what others were doing. I am sorry we oouldn't see more of each other, and would have if he had not lived so far away. my prayers go to Isle and children.Mom really enjoyed John's visits but unfortunately she is in a nursing home so probably will not understand his passing. Always Cousin Susasn

I would just like to send my love to all my cousins. There have been good times and bad times as with my family also. We miss everyone of you and I'll never forget all the fun we used to have when we were kids. It's sad that we just don't keep in touch. It really caught me off guard when I heard of my Uncle's passing my sister Julie had called and told me.Our mom Micky also Claude's sister is in the Mechanisville nursing home and not doing well either if something does happen with mom we will do our best to let everyone know. My heart goes out to everyone in the family.God Bless You All. Love Jana! Susan where are you I miss you?

To Ilsa and Johns' children(my cousins)I was shocked to hear from Jana a week or two ago that he was sick, then my husband calls me at work and said he just read in the paper that he had passed on Mon. It's sad we never keep in touch, but we are to blame as well. I have some good memories of the times we spent together at the Anamosa home.We were so close then. Uncle John was a force to recon with for sure. When I saw him a little over a year ago he seemed a changed and humble man. I pray he made peace with the Lord. It would be the last time his sister our mom would see him in a somewhat normal state. She is now in the Mechanicsville Nursing Home suffering from a lifetime of diabetes and dimentia which was diagnosed in March 08. She and John were never close she tells us, but I think she did love him. I know he loved Ilsa and I will be praying for you all as you grieve his passing. Would be nice to know where you all are? With love, cousin Julie and her husband Jim and boys Jordan and Jared Dye

John (we knew him mostly as Claude) had four cousins in California -- I am one of them. We always enjoyed our time with Claude -- he was always friendly and curious about us. My father, Ferdinand (Ted) Oltmanns was one of his favorite relatives and he came to visit us in Ceres, California on a number of occasions. Hope the family in Iowa is coping with the loss.
