Morse M. Tibbits, 80, of 145 Robinwood Drive, Robins, died January 26, 2009 in his home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Faith Bible Church, Robins. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Survivors include his wife Beverly; daughter Debra K. Takatsuka and husband Alan of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; daughter-in-law Joni Tibbits of Robins; grandchildren Lisa M. (Brandon) Kepner and Benjamin Tibbits, all of Cedar Rapids, Ryan Y. Takatsuka of Ft. Dodge, and Kai N. Takatsuka of Minneapolis, MN; special niece Dakota Eckhard of Oakland, CA; great grandchildren Bronson W. and Alexis Kepner; and sister Ida Rose Scholl of Rockwell, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Fred R. Tibbits, grandson Brandon W. Tibbits, and brother Roger Tibbits.

Morse Malcolm Tibbits was born July 8, 1928 in Rock Falls, Iowa the son of George M. and Helen E. (Morse) Tibbits. He served his country honorably in the United States Army as an MP, and also in the Merchant Marine. He was united in marriage to Beverly J. Norcross on July 12, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a member of the Local IBEW # 405, for over 55 years. During his last 26 years he worked for Munson Electric at Collins Radio retiring in 1990. He served as Robins Town Marshall, Electrical Inspector for 20 years, and the first Fire Chief of the city. He was a member of Marion American Legion # 298, Cedar Rapids Emmaus Community, and attended Faith Bible Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and the joys brought by little children.

Memorial donations in Morse’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
