Hannah K. Johnson, 98, a resident of Northbrook Care Center died there Thursday January 22, 2009 following a brief illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. until service time. The Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum from First Lutheran Church will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial: Strawberry Point.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene (Beverly) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, and Arthur (Ida) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, 8 grandchildren, Kim (Nick) Cappussi, Robin (Tom) Kenney, Shannon (Christina) Johnson, Kelly (Tammy) Johnson, Chad Johnson, Jeffrey (Nicole) Johnson, Wendy (Rod) Bunch and Stacy (Bryan) Johnson, and 13 great grandchildren, Kevin, Krystal, Nicholas, Christopher, Travis, Jeannette, Emily, Logan, Landon, Alex, Cameron, Abby and Natalie.
Her husband, parents, 2 sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Hannah was born October 24, 1910 in Strawberry Point, the daughter of Sigmond and Mary Hildebrand Wolf. She married Alva Marion Johnson on July 2, 1936 in Manchester. Hannah and her husband operated the concessions stand for five years in Backbone State Park. She worked for Raytheon in Oelwein, Raths in Waterloo and later moved to the Cedar Rapids area. She then worked for St. Luke’s Hospital in housekeeping and at Mercy Medical Center as a unit aid. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing and gardening in her spare time. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.
