Bob, Bill, Mark, and Jean: I just heard from Phil about your Mom's passing. I immediately go back to 50 years ago to the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, the Lillie family reunions, the basketball games, her support and interest when I was an exchange student to Germany, her support of Phil and his journey to be a vet., and all the times we met as I became an adult. She always seemed to genuinely care about me and my family. Just a great Aunt and I loved her. Take comfort in all the pleasant memories. Love John and Beth

My brothers and I send our deepist sympathy to all of you. We have many memories of your mother and father. I was lucky to have Lilie as my campfire leader for all of those years. She was a great mentor in teaching lifes lessons. I was lucky to see your mom on the day of my mothers funeral 2 years ago at the Longbranch playing Bridge for the afternoon. We were gathering with our family for a dinner. She was so thrilled to see us as we were to see her. Susan, Bill and Steve Barker

My deepest sympathy in your mothers' passing. Lilie was my favorite Sunday School teacher at St. Pauls' Lutheran Church in Marion, IA, I couldn't wait to recite the catachism to get the small books (I still have them), they still have her beautiful signature! Lilie was and still remains a woman of substance, a woman that you want to emulate. May the Lord Bless You, Keep you, and Sustain you through this difficult time.

Our sympathy goes out to all of you. We lived in Springville for nine years and got to know both "Doc" and Lil. I was in what was then Monday Study Club with Lil and also worked with her on the cancer drive. My favorite memory, though, is an invittion to lunch after we had moved to Cedar Rapids. Lil asked me and our daughter Maggie who was probably 8 at the time. We had a lovely lunch and visit and Lil treated Maggie just like a grown up. Maggie talked about that for a long time! May your own wonderful memories see you through the coming days. Jim and Ann Sullivan

We were so sorry to hear of Lilie's passing. She was such a dear friend and hard worker at whatever her challenge was for the day! We always enjoyed seeing her at Iowa State functions - she was a great Cyclone booster. Whenever we would take a sick pet out to see Doc, Lilie would invite the kids to come to her kitchen for cookies - probably to take their minds off of their sick pet. Lilie was beautiful inside and out and she will be greatly missed. Our sympathy and prayers to you all.
