Memorial

Mary Kay Meissner, 38, of 5507 Decatur Street SW, died at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, January 12, 2009, of lung cancer. Celebration of Life Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by Chaplain Christine Wagner Hecht. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her mother, Darla Meissner of Arlington, WA; brother, Keith Meissner of Everett, WA; and sister, Darlena Helm of Reno, NV.

Also surviving are aunts, uncles, and cousins of Washington and Oregon; and her soul mate, Tom Baltisberger of Cedar Rapids.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Meissner who died on September 21, 2008 in Washington.

Mary was born on August 23, 1970 in Everett, WA and moved to Carson City, NV in 1998 where she met Tom in 1999. Mary and Tom traveled together in a motor home for two years before moving to Cedar Rapids in September, 2002. Mary graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2005 and had one year of college at Mt. Mercy before her death. Mary was a board member of the Cedar Rapids Gratitude Club. Mary had many friend of Bill W and went to lots of meetings with these friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice House of Mercy.
