Verne W. Goldsberry 75, of 4135 Treeline Ct. NE, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, following a long illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha. Rev. Dennis Cahill will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday with a wake service beginning at 6 PM, and at the church after 10:30 AM on Thursday.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years Joyce, six daughters: daughter Cathy Hickman (David) and children Nicholas (Laurin), Verne, Phillip, and Alex (Erica), daughter Janet Perschek (Bud) and children Rebecca (Chris), Suzy (Mike), and Ben, daughter Nancy Goebel (Paul McDermott) and children Heather Goldsberry (Scott Evers), and Marcy, daughter Beth Scribner (Roger) and children Roger (Jeanne) Chris, and Andrew, daughter Lisa Wright (Jon) and their son Lance, and daughter Mickey Shannahan (Scott) and children Katy and Trevor, a sister Betty Fischer (Bill), sister-in-law Pat Miller (Dick) , three great grandchildren Cooper, Zane, and Nicholas, and his cat, Matty. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Elizabeth Goldsberry, a grandson Eric Pollett, and a son-in-law Bob Goebel.

Verne was born June 2, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Joyce Maguire on January 22, 1955 in Omaha. Verne was a software engineer manager at Rockwell-Collins for 28 years retiring in 1990. He was a US Army veteran and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
