Memorial

John E. Dillon, 85, of 4217 Council St. NE, died Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services with military honors will be held at 3 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Deacon Lanny Peterson of St. Pius X Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Tuesday.

Survivors include a daughter Kathy Moenk of Marion, a son John W. (Patricia) Dillon of Anoka, Minnesota, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two daughters, Maureen in infancy and Patricia, and two sisters.

John was born July 3, 1923 in Elgin, Illinois to John and Cecelia Welch Dillon. He married Dolores M. Grewe on February 1, 1944 in Elgin, Illinois. She died November 20, 1997. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the VFW Post No 788. He enjoyed trap shooting, bowling, square dancing, playing cards, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
