Mary Mardell Emig, 93, of 455 – 1st Street, Marion, died at her home, Saturday, December 13, 2008, after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Marion by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include three sons, Richard and Charles Emig, both of Marion, and Dan (Sheri Chapman) Emig of Ely; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mardell was born on April 27, 1915 in Afton to James and Grace McCrackin. She married Harold Emig on January 19, 1936 in Kellerton. He died in 2000. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Women’s Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mardell was a Gold Star Mother. Mardell liked to garden but her top priority was her family; spending time with them and attending all their events.
