Eula Faye Gibbs, 86, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, died there Thursday, December 11, 2008, following a long illness. Services at 2 PM Sunday in the Valley View Baptist Church. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 5 PM on Saturday and at the church after 1 PM on Sunday.

Faye was born on April 30, 1922, to Ray and Icle Henderson the oldest of three girls.
She married Fred Havran in 1940 the father of Carol Ann and Nancy Kaye. Fred died from wounds received in the Battle of the Bulge. Faye remarried in 1946 to Donald Blount father of Crystal Lea, who died in 1948. In 1948, Faye married Harlan Gibbs, father of James Ray and Thomas Leslie. Fay and “Bud” were married 48 years prior to his death in December 1996.

Besides her own five children, Faye and Bud cared for many foster children.
Faye is also survived by her two sisters, Betty Taylor of Cedar Rapids and Nadine Clawson of Lenexa, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
