Maxine (Elizabeth) Jones, 79, of Heritage Nursing and Rehab, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, after a sudden illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Brenda Ehret . Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. and after 10:30 Monday at the Chapel.

Maxine is survived by three sons, Robert (Pam) Jones of Solon, Raymond (Phyllis) Jones of Cedar Rapids, and Phillip (Joan) Jones, of Amana; daughter, Rose (Don) Bents of Cedar Rapids; sister, Viola Stephens of Missouri Valley; three brothers, Bernard McHugh of Gaza, Sylvester McHugh of Magnolia, and Kenneth McHugh of Logan; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in June, 2008; an infant sister, Betty Ann; sister, Shirley McHugh; and three brothers, Roger, Roland, and Royal McHugh.

Maxine was born on April 29, 1929 in Harrison County to John and Eva McHugh. She married Alvin Dewayne Jones on June 23, 1957 in Logan, Iowa. She liked playing cards with her friends. In earlier years, she babysat for children in her neighborhood. She loved horses. She was the perfect homemaker; cooking, cleaning and keeping her house for her family.

Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer’s Association.
