Evelyn Cole Parker, 96, a resident of Westridge Care Center, died Wednesday November 26, 2008 in St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. Memorial services: Monday December 15, 2008 at the Munterville Lutheran Church. Burial: Munterville Cemetery, Blakesberg, Iowa. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Evelyn is survived by her sister in-law, Jeanette Olson of Ottumwa, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene, Maria, Mildred, her brothers, Carl, Ralph and Johnie, her first husband, Miley Cole and her second husband, captain William Parker.
Born in Buxton, Iowa, to John and Anna Olson on May 19, 1912. She graduated from Cosmetologist College in Des Moines. She later owned and operated a beauty shop in Ottumwa for many years. After World War II she and her first husband, Miley Cole moved to San Diego, California where she became a food demonstrator for Hormel Meat Company, retiring after 25 years. She and her second husband, Captain William Parker were volunteers for Meals-on-Wheels in the San Diego area for 10 years. Evelyn was a supporter and life member of the Munterville Lutheran Church.
