Erva T. Gongwer

To all the Gongwer kids, I am so awful with sending cards and this lets me conveniently speak to you all. I know Aunt Erva has not been well, but I also know that doesn't always make death easier. I wish you all peace as you say goodbye to your mom. I have such great memories of such a sweet loving lady. Love, Jill My sympathy to you all. Jim--what's with the lazy class of '67???

I haven't seen your Mother for many years but her influence in my life shows up often. She was my girls preschool teacher and encouraged me to buy the preschool when she and Dorothy retired. I loved it as much as she did. She also talked so much about the fun they had in drum corp that I encouraged my girls to join. Althought it wasn't as nice as when her children marched my girls enjoyed both Emerald Knights and later Colts. My heart is with you at this difficult time but my body is in MN so I hope this little message will tell you how much your Mom meant to me and how proud you must be of all her life's accomplishments. She influenced many childrens lives and although they might not remember personally we the parents do. God be with you.

The Gongwer Family, We were sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. For all the years I spent at Johnson Ave. Hy-Vee I remember seeing your mother several times a week. She was always upbeat and friendly. I didn't know her that well but she seemed to be a wonderful person. We extend our sympathy to you all. Bob and Linda Kirsch

To the Gongwer Family Sorry to learn of the passing of your Mother. Mom's from her generation are special, and with each passing, we loose a window into our past. May your memories comfort the family.

We want to express our sympathy to the Gongwer family in the loss of their Mother. Our three daughters went to preschool in the 1960s with "Mrs. Gongwer". They shared many memories with her. Her husband, Jerome, is a distant relative of Donna's - her grandfather was Ira Gongwer. We still live on the Gongwer farm west of Cedar Rapids. Erva was a special lady and she will be missed and remembered by the many whose lives she touched. You each have many memories to cherish and carry in your hearts. God bless each of you.
