Amos E. Williams, 68, 711 16th St SE, died Wednesday October 29, 2008 in his home from heart failure. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Robert C. Pleiness from Good News Baptist Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include Mary Ann Williams of Cedar Rapids, his children, Patricia Parkinson of Venice, Florida, Chestine Vanderslice of Cedar Rapids, Wendy (Brad) Ridenour of Greeley, Iowa, Kevin Williams (Nicole) of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Amy (Doug) Bruce of Cedar Rapids, a brother, Cliford Williams of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Marguerite Hennessey of Springfield, Illinois and Mary Lou (Clyde) Anderson of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
His parents, a niece, Tina Bean and a nephew Mike Bean, brother in law, Don Hennessey Sr. and a sister Gladys Grape preceded him in death.
Amos was born January 25, 1940 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Willie and Geogia Collins Williams. He was a truck driver for Nabisco Foods and owner and operator of Yellow Cab in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. He served in the army during peacetime. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Hanford Post #5. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Melanie Stahlberg, Mercy Hospice and all the neighbors for all they did for Amos.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
