Iris Aileen Dawson, 73, of 1425 Country Club Drive, Marion, died Saturday November 1, 2008 in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Mercy Hospice Chaplain Joe Kane. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 12:00 p.m. at the chapel on Wednesday.

Survivors include her children, Jennifer Anhalt of Yelm, Washington, Douglas Dawson and special friend, Janelle of Cedar Rapids, Kristin Dawson and special friend Gary of Marion, Julia Meaker (Mark) of Centralia, Washington, her twin sister, Phyllis Boon (Bill) of Ames, Dee Keating (Bernard) of Cedar Rapids, Lois Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids, William Soupene (Macey) of Anamosa and James Soupene (Thelma) of St. George, Kansas. Also surviving are four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Sylvan Dawson of Cedar Rapids, and friend, Don Carr, of Ottawa, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Daniel Dawson.

Iris was born November 6, 1934 in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Orville and Velma Abernathy Soupene. She married Sylvan Dawson and later divorced. Iris was employed at Rockwell Collins. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, playing bridge and gardening. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
