Everett H. Peters, 85, a resident of the Methwick Woodlands, died there Saturday September 20, 2008 following a brief illness. Funeral Mass: Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church by the Rev. David O’Connor. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a vigil will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Surviving are his children, Francis Peters of Fairbanks Alaska, Mark Peters of Cedar Rapids, Florian Peters of Iowa City, Gilbert Peters (Debbie) of Dear Born, Michigan, Mary Sokol (John) of Chicago and Teresa Wery (Mark) of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Barbara Kelsey of Hollywood, California.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Sandra (Sokol) Goodin, John Sokol, Cheryl Sokol, Mike Sokol, Todd Peters, Sara Peters, Ben Wery, Bryan Wery, Nick Wery, and Weston Wery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Peters, and three brothers, Kenneth, Lawrence and Glenn Peters.

Everett was born September 6, 1923 in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Charles and Gertie Smidt Peters. He married Lillian C. Drahos on June 28, 1949 in Cedar Rapids at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He was a carpenter and Millwright. Everett was a member of All Saints Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years and member of the Retired Carpenters Union. He served in the Army during World War II in the south pacific.

Memorials may be made to All Saint Catholic Church Building Fund or the Methwick Community.
