Memorial

David Siechert 82, of 1000 Cheyenne Rd NW, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in the Dennis and Donna Hospice House of Mercy following a long illness. Services with military honors will be held at 11 AM Friday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Brenda Peconge of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church and Chaplain Joseph Kane of Hospice of Mercy will officiate. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday and at the chapel after 10 AM on Friday.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 51 years Eileen, a son Scott, three daughters, Lori Richardson, Valerie Siechert, and Kara Siechert, and brother Robert Siechert and wife Marilyn, three grandchildren, Ryan Richardson and wife Emily, Adam Richardson, and Hunter Richardson Roff, and two great-grandchildren, Eddie and Arabella Richardson, and his two pet dogs Sami and Lucky, all of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Helen Schultz Siechert and two infant brothers.

David was born April 16, 1926 in Cedar Rapids. He married Eileen Murphy on December 4, 1957 in Cedar Rapids. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He was employed by the US Post Office for 42 years retiring as a Supervisor, and also was employed by Brinks Armored Services. He was a member Hanford American Legion Post No 5.

Military honors by Hanford American Legion Post No 5.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
