I got to know Betty when my mother-in-law, Alice Lindsay, was also a resident at Cottage Grove Place. I enjoyed her friendship and visiting Betty each time we were in Cedar Rapids to visit Alice. She was a lovely lady and I am very sorry for your loss.

John, Debbie, Tom & Susan: John and Betty were great family friends of ours. Betty was such a generous and caring person. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts go back to the summer of 1966 when I was the Teen Director at the Cedar Rapids Country Club. That was my introduction to the Chehak Family--especially Tom and John. Mischief is a good word to describe you boys. You were lots of fun--full of smiles! The twinkle in your eyes,John,is still there. I want to tell you how much I loved your mother,Betty, and how saddened I was to hear of her death. She was so beautiful. I used to read to her from the Book of Revelation--by her request! She wanted so many answers and the only one I could give her was Jesus! After all--He is the answer! She used to bring Boston to our Bible studies at CGP. I miss both of them. At this time I wish you peace and joy and I am so glad that I met you and your mother and some of your family, too. Molly and Anna were at Washington together.I shall always think of your family fondly. Blessings upon you! Alan sends his blessings also. He,too, loved Betty. With love, Flo

My mom, Mary, stayed at the same care facility as Betty when she was in hospice. Her room was down the hall from Betty's, so I sometimes got a chance to say "hi" to Betty and visit a little with her. She always had a kind, warm smile on her face that made my walk down the hall a just a little bit easier. That same grace and friendliness can be seen in her family today.

Dear John, Debbie, Tom, Susan and Family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Betty was a wonderful friend to our family and many in Cedar Rapids. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. . . . For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Isaiah 41:10, 13 King James Version Bible We know she has found a special place with the Creator. Our love, Tom, Barbara, Ian, Harrison and Dylan

My condolences to the family. Betty and I had many happy hours doing Children's Theatre for the Jr. League and after all those hours we became good friends even though distance sometimes makes us forget. We'll be thinking of you all.
