Robert DeWayne Hudson, 81, of 4200 Blairs Ferry Road NE, died at West Ridge Care Center, Wednesday, October 8, 2008, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William Harnish. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Memories.

Survivors include his wife, LaVonne; a daughter, Linda Sue (Clyde) Schultz of Center Point; two sons, Lynn (Cindy) Hudson of Cedar Rapids and Loni (Anneliese) Hudson of Hiawatha; four grandchildren, Angie Naylor of Harragate, England, Vicki Campbell of Michigan, Amanda Hudson of Iowa City, and David Hudson of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Carol (Virgil) Schroeder of Owatana, MN and Gloria Andreani of Richmond, VA; and two great granddaughters, Madeline and Lindsey.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Frank and Howard.

Robert was born on July 8, 1927 in Walker to Zail and Minerva Hudson. While at Franklin High School, he was a member of the Junior Air Force, graduating from Metro Trade School in Des Moines. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII. He married LaVonne Miller on November 21, 1948 in Marion. Robert was a maintenance supervisor at Pennick and Ford and retired from ADM in 1992 as Co Gen Plant Manager. He enjoyed making things run. Robert enjoyed his two cats, “Butchie” and “Keekee” and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
