Janice M. Marks, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died September 25, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Private family services will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her children Karen Darrow of Springdale, AR, Jane Wood and husband Brian of Center Point, and Randy Marks of Colorado. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Chad Darrow of Springdale, AR, Brett Darrow of Madison, WI, Kelly Darrow stationed in Richmond, VA, and Jennifer and Nicholas Wood of Center Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Donald.

Janice Mae Marks was born June 28, 1934 in Wilton, Iowa the daughter of Henry J. and Edna Fick Dall. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Marks on June 21, 1953 in Tipton, Iowa. She worked at home caring for her family, and was a long time American Legion Volunteer. She was a member of the American Legion Hanford Post #5 Auxiliary, where for many years was very active in many different activities. She was always involved with chairing the Christmas party for children, helping the Vinton School of the Blind, working bingo nights, and doing anything that was needed. Above all Jan was a devoted grandmother who deeply loved each of her grandchildren. She was very proud, and cherished her role as grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jan's honor may be made to St. Luke's Health Programs-Pet Pals Program.
