Alfonso Alvino 'Punch' Vasquez, 56, of 626 5th Ave. SW died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Services at 1 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Gerald Condon will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wed. and at the Chapel after Noon on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Connie, three sons, Jeff Purcell and his wife, Linda of Van Horne, Anthony and Michael Vasquez both of Cedar Rapids, two daughters, Crystal Jones and her husband, Chris of Phoenix, AZ. and Kari Washington and her husband, Brett of Chandler, AZ., his father, Joe Vasquez of East Chicago, IND., his mother, Ramona Vasquez of Cedar Rapids, two brothers, Jim and Ben and his wife, Bonnie all of Cedar Rapids, three sisters, Peggy Clymer, Christine Ridenour and husband Randy and Becky Glubka and her husband, Rodney all of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Christopher Jr. and Crishana Jones and Nathan and Ashley Purcell, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Punch was born on April 23, 1947 in Cedar Rapids. He married Connie K. Mulholland on Aug. 13, 1966 in Cedar Rapids. He worked for over 30 years at Langer Manufacturing and since 1995 owned and operated CJs Sports Bar & Grill. Punch was a dedicated family man. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed pool, the Hawkeyes, the Cubs and his yearly trips to Las Vegas and Phoenix with his close cousins, Jody and Dan and his special friend, Greg Mara.
