Jerome V. 'Jerry' Uhlman, 78, of 4425 Westchester Dr. NE. died Sat. May 3, 2003 at St. Lukes Hospital from complications from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Services at 1 PM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday. The casket will be closed on Wed.
Survivors include a son, David and his wife, Debra Of Redondo Beach, CA., a daughter, Janis Etzcorn and husband, John of Kalamazoo, Mich., and a brother, James of Mesa, AZ. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jason Uhlman of Reno, NV. ,Ryan and Madelyn Etzcorn of Kalamazoo, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe and Robert and two sisters, Juanita and Jeanette.
Jerry was born on June 16, 1924 in Des Moines, the son of Joseph and Maxine Uhlman. He served in WWII in the Army Corp of Engineers, landing in France on D-Day. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1965 to serve as District Manager for the Equitable. Jerry was still an active agent for AXA Advisors/The Equitable with over 60 years of service to his customers across eastern Iowa. He was married to Marilyn St. John for 27 years and to Sonja Dunlap who remained a close friend. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Jerry's name.
