To Mrs. Lekin & family:
Please accept our condolences. Our family extends our gratitude for having Gary as a friend and beacon for Mother Bessie. We considered Gary a member of our extended family.
Gary gave undivided care, companionship and watchful attention to Mom and others at Geneva Towers. There was a special bond between Bessie and Gary. As you may know, Gary has been Mom's master chef for many years. Gary prepared many great and generous meals for Mom. In partial return, Bessie always had a supply of Gary's favorite Coke in her refrigerator and closet. Gary, Kelly, Larry, Jeff, Sandy and others always kept Bessie in their loop-of-life and thoughts.
Mrs. Lekin, we thank you for opening your arms to Mom with Gary when the Cedar River flood waters forced the evacuation of Geneva Towers, downtown Cedar Rapids and several thousand homes in the flood basin. Gary called me that evening to report that he and Mom were safe with you. Over the next weeks, we were in regular contact. Without fail, Gary had Mom's health and safety upper-most in his mind and heart.
Gary, our friend and brother, we will miss you. You gave Mom and our family much from your generous heart and ways. Peace and God's grace be with you, your Mother and Family.
The sons and families of Bessie.
