Gary Patrick Lekin, 60, of 310 5th Ave SE, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. A gathering will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.Survivors include his mother Eileen Lekin of Cedar Rapids, his brothers and sisters David Joy of Mt. Home, Arkansas, Carol Lekin and Craig Lekin both of Cedar Rapids, Denise Mike Peal-Shea of Burlington, Iowa, and Shawn Lekin of Cedar Rapids, nieces and nephews, Tana, Melissa, Ross, Ryan, and Breinn Lekin, Zach Peal, Holly Kamiller, Patricia, Patrick, and Michael Shea. He was preceded in death by his father.Gary was born January 26, 1948 in Cedar Rapids to Paul and Mary Eileen Hutton Lekin. Like his father he worked as a salesman and in Resort Hotel operations. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, Cub fan, and true lover of all sports. Gary was a constant loyal-son, brother, friend, and more to all he knew and loved.
