Charles C. 'Chuck' Yanda, 38, of 3100 E. Ave NE, died peacefully Sunday, November 16, 2003, in St. Luke's Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of Chuck's life will be held at 10 AM Thursday in First Assembly of God Church. Pastor Rick Gail will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday and at the church after 9:30 AM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife Elaine, son Charles II, daughter Jenna, father Clifford and wife Michelle, sister Sheri Scott Grabanski, brother Scott and his friend Jeff Hoge, grandma Leota Yanda, father and mother-in-law Marvin and Darlene Ozburn, brother in-law Kurt Ozburn, nieces Tasia and Tiffany Grabanski, nephew James Grabanski, great-nephew Joseph Grabanski, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends and his dog Kasey.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane Yanda, grandfather Leo Yanda, grandparents Andy and Goldie Duros, a cousin Donnie Yanda II, and Uncle Don Yanda.
Charles was born March 6, 1965, in Cedar Rapids to Cliff and Mary Yanda. He married Elaine Ozburn on September 24, 1988 in Cedar Rapids. He owned and operated Pool Guys.
Chuck was a loving father, husband, son, brother, grandson, and friend. Nothing meant more to him than Elaine, Chuck, and Jenna. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed working around the house and in his yard. He was always there when you needed him ready to lend a helping hand. Though your life on this earth was not long, it was a beautiful one, God has greater plans for you and until we meet again Chuck, we all love you.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at Farmers and Merchants Bank, 4000 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, Ia. 52402.
