Sandra Jean Pierce, 55, of Cedar Rapids, died July 14, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Brent Watkins of River of Life Ministries will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband Dennie; children Sonia Godbey and husband Joe of West Virginia, Matt Mitchell and wife Paula of Hiawatha, Mary Webster, and Simon Mitchell both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Autumn, Jade, Morgan, and Alex; step children Adam Pierce and his son Montana, Sara Velasquez and husband William all of Clinton; brothers and sisters Cheryl, Tom, Candi, Dawn, Bruce, Kevin, and Debbie; and their dog Derby.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Marlis Lennie, and her first husband Harold Mitchell.

Sandra Jean Pierce was born June 14, 1953 in Iowa City, the beloved daughter of Eugene and Marlis Smith Lennie. She was a graduate of South Tama High School. She married Harold Mitchell, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Dennie Pierce on September 4, 2004 in Davenport, Iowa. She attended River of Life Ministries. She enjoyed music, particularly country and rock and roll, and watching professional wrestling with her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the memorial fund established in Sandra's honor.
