Willis was born on February 3, 1925 in Cedar Rapids to Andrew and Helen Lamp Johnson. He graduated from Blue Island High School in Blue Island Chicago, Ill. He attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana where he was a member of Delta Tau Fraternity, and served in the Naval Air Corp during WWII where he was stationed at Glenview Naval Air Station in Illinois. They moved to Cedar Rapids where Willis began his career at Eddy Paper Company which was purchased by Weyerhaeuser Paper Company. He held various sales and administrative positions before retiring in 1989.

Willis enjoyed home projects, woodworking, auto repair, and games of chance. He loved his family, taking special joy in experiencing his grandchildren's activities. Willis was a proud, steadfast gentleman who always placed his family's needs ahead of his own. His love, dependability, and reliance will be greatly missed.

The family expresses special thanks to the Health Care Staff at St. Luke's 5 East, and to Dr. James Boddicker for their tender care of Willis.
